Located in Deep River, Ontario, Cindy Hadden is a nature-inspired potter. Her pieces are thoughtful, intricate, sometimes offbeat and, most days, full of joy. Her style is constantly evolving, so most of her pieces are one of a kind works. Cindy feels that nature nourishes the soul, and is very grateful to live in an area surrounded by wilderness, a constant source of inspiration.
Jessica Lin is a Canadian artist with a love of travel and adventure, and a curiosity about the natural world around us and the connections that hold us all together. A professional photographer for 25 years, she always felt that her images taken while travelling fell short of capturing the wonder of being somewhere new. She has spent the past 14 years developing her unique imaginary landscape photography style, where she extracts elements from her various photographs, recomposing them to create whimsical scenes.
A few years ago, she and her husband made the move from a 600-square-foot house in Toronto to a 42-acre forest and garden property in the beautiful Madawaska Valley. Their current project is a multi-year collaborative art installation around the property, with the first step being a sleepover immersive art installation at the edge of the forest. Guests staying there have wonderful opportunities to connect with the abundant natural surroundings, while being encouraged to notice the magic in the everyday world around us. Jessica has also been working on building and planting the gardens that she now photographs for creating her layered photographic artwork.
Since 2012, she has participated in over 60 art fairs and group and solo exhibitions. Her work has been represented by half a dozen galleries in Ontario, including the Art Gallery of Ontario, and is held in private collections across Canada, the U.S., the U.K. and Europe. In 2018 her piece entitled “Night Paddle” was awarded Best in Show at the Ontario Society of Artists 145th Open Juried Exhibition. She is now an active member and co-coordinator of the Madawaska Valley Studio Tour, which occurs twice annually, and which allows visitors the opportunity to view her work in the surroundings of the garden that often features in her imagery.
Jessica’s artwork is printed using archival inks and processes, and protected with an artist UV varnish to ensure that the pieces will maintain their vibrancy for decades to come. The prints are mounted onto stained birch panels. All of the sanding, staining, mounting, and varnishing is done by Jessica and her husband, in her home studio in Killaloe, Ontario.
